Facial tissue is primarily manufactured using natural plant fibers-such as virgin wood pulp, bamboo pulp, or recycled cellulose-as raw materials. Specialized manufacturing processes, such as the GBPM fine-soft papermaking technique and the interlacing of long and short fibers, are employed to enhance its softness, tensile strength, and absorbency. Specifically, high-quality facial tissue features a velvety texture that feels comfortable against the skin; possesses excellent durability, resisting tearing or breakage; demonstrates superior water absorption capabilities; and, even with repeated wiping, does not easily shed lint or leave residue.
The addition of ingredients such as polyurethane amino silicone oil, glycerin, or moisturizing creams can further enhance its softness, structural integrity, and moisture-retention properties, while simultaneously reducing skin friction.
The texture of facial tissue is finer and more refined than that of toilet paper; it is delicate and soft, and less prone to shedding lint or tearing. Based on intended use, facial tissues can be categorized into facial cleansing tissues, dinner napkins, and pocket handkerchiefs; based on raw materials, they are classified as virgin wood pulp, non-wood pulp, or mixed-pulp tissues; and based on performance characteristics, they are distinguished as standard, extra-soft, or wet-strength varieties. Furthermore, products are graded into categories such as "Premium," "First Class," and "Qualified." High-quality facial tissue is free from transferable fluorescent agents and harmful chemical additives; moreover, key indicators-such as total bacterial colony count-must comply with relevant hygiene standards. For instance, national standards stipulate that the total bacterial colony count in facial tissue products must not exceed 200 colonies per gram. Packaging formats are diverse-ranging from boxed dispenser packs and soft-pack dispenser packs to pocket-sized packets-with particular emphasis placed on ensuring effective sealing to maintain product hygiene and quality.
