The traditional manufacturing process for tissue paper primarily comprises the following stages: Pulping, stock preparation, pulp blending, screening, papermaking, and finishing. During the stock preparation phase, the physical properties of the paper can be modified through the addition of various chemical additives-such as biocides, wet-strength agents, dry-strength agents, and softeners.
Driven by growing environmental awareness, the tissue paper industry is actively exploring the use of alternative raw materials-such as bamboo fibers and recycled fibers-to reduce its reliance on virgin wood pulp and minimize the carbon footprint across the entire product lifecycle. For instance, Kimberly-Clark's Kleenex ECO toilet paper series, launched in Australia, is the first bamboo-based product to receive 100% certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Leading enterprises are also actively implementing green manufacturing practices. For example, Kimberly-Clark has constructed a 7 MW photovoltaic power station at its facility in Tianjin. This installation is projected to generate an average of over 7 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 5,500 tons-a testament to the papermaking industry's commitment to sustainable development through the optimization of its energy structure.
